I've seriously been debating on doing that myself. The anime industry is already mostly adaptations of every remotely-successful manga and light novel, and the western industry is half comic book superhero adaptations, and I would imagine having completed comics would make the storyboarding phase of the animated adaptation much more streamlined...

yeah it's pretty much always been that way, I think drawing a comic is a good way to work out the kinks of your idea and get somethin down on paper, saves some time in the idea phase for if you do wanna make an animation..! and even if by the time you finish the comic work you decide you're not feeling the idea anymore, you still got a cool comic!!
